Mercedes Schlapp has no easy task in her position in the role of White House adviser for strategic communications. She's faced with the president, who acts as his own communication director, multiple legal battles that can throw off the strategy of communication for the administration as well as a host of Cabinet secretaries ensnared in their own disputes. Schlapp, however, has maintained her focus on her role.
